A Lifestyle Newborn Session || Welcome Miss Everleigh

I’ve got to be honest here – when it comes to posing newborns, I am at a loss. Ask me to put a baby in a basket or a football helmet or a bowl of apples, and you’ll see me heading for the door. But lifestyle newborn sessions? Oh how I love them.

I love the little glimpse into a family’s life. Newborns bring a certain bit of mess and chaos that is somehow also sweet and precious.   The baby monitors, tiny diapers, receiving blankets and piles of laundry are real life. They show how it is when a 7.5lb human makes her way into a new family. I love to capture this – and the rocking and the shushing and the outfit changes. It’s all so beautiful and fleeting.

In early December, little miss Everleigh made her way into the Connover family. She was welcomed by not only her adoring parents, but also by two amazingly kind big brothers. I tell you what, I’ve never had a two-year-old so enthusiastic about photos as Elliott was on the day of our shoot. He absolutely stole the show!

There’s no doubt that the new little miss is loved and cherished – and that she has many fun and happy days ahead of her as a part of this clan!

This Old Truck
Earlier this year, Mark's beloved truck bit the dust. Not worth the cost of the repairs, it went off to a new owner via craigslist, and we began searching for our next vehicle. We're not a family that takes on car payments, so we bought what we could afford with cash. And what we could afford was a very old, slightly damaged, manual transmission Ford. Mark and I, honestly, kind of think it's the worst. Three seats (not even enough for all of us). A tape deck. No cupholders (Imagine!). No automatic anything. But our kids. Well, they think it's absolutely the most amazing vehicle they've ever, ever laid eyes on! One bench seat means ...
The Masuen Family [with a good book]
Just after moving into their new home, the Masuen Family decided on an at-home photo shoot to celebrate this fun milestone in their lives. I loved catching just a glimpse of their day-to-day routine and just watching them be a family! Mr. Myles is fully two and certainly practiced his independence. We even took a little walk down the sidewalk together during which he showed me lots of personality. And those curls. Just amazing! Thank you, Masuen family, for letting me into your home and your lives. You are a beautiful family!

Five Minutes with Her Toothbrush
It's been a while since I blogged a 5-minute-project - but Christmas break means time to work on my own projects and that usually translates into sharing a few photos of my own kiddos with you! Be honest, you probably don't spend 5 minutes with your toothbrush do you? But miss Geneva does. In fact, she'll spend 30 minutes brushing her teeth - three times a day - if I let her! Here's just five minutes of her little hygiene routine.
