My [own] Little Family
I love, love, love using this space to show off all of the gorgeous and unique families and happenings that I am blessed to photograph. But today I thought, hey, it's Christmas Eve. Why not show off my own little family this time?
Since Briggs was 15 months old when we brought him home, he had his first official portraits (done ...

Puttin’ the “Good” in Good Photo [The Carew & Neely Families]
A couple of months ago, I told you a little bit about why I named my business the way I did.
I'm here today with a little sequel to that post - one more reason why I chose to go with the name "Good Photo" instead of something more simple or catchy.
It all really starts with a story about me and my family. My little family sta ...

So it seems that we are well into the month of May. Around here in the Kyle house, that's pretty significant - because this month, Mr. Briggs will turn two. Missing his birthday last year was a little bit hard for me, so I've really been looking forward to celebrating WITH him this year.
As the occasion approaches, I'm well awar ...

On Friday - just two weeks shy of the day we began this process - we completed the VERY LAST step in the adoption of Mr. Briggs. By Colorado law, we are required to appear in court for a re-adoption hearing six months after bringing him home. For What It’s Worth
If you're in the process of adopting,
and if you're anything like me,
you are probably spending hours on the internet looking for advice

But like all new parents, we pressed on to learn and grow and adjust while providing the best possible care we knew how for our little guy.
It seemed like everywhere we turned, someone wa ...

Arriving Home; A Video
A little over a week ago, we were greeted at the airport by an amazing group of friends and family. I cannot begin to describe what it felt like to have so many people there rejoicing over our little one - rejoicing that he is home and that he is a part of our family.Landing at Denver International Airport and arriving home with ou ...

Six Hours of Briggs
We got our boy about six hours ago.
And he's huge.
He cried for 90% of our time together this afternoon. Surprisingly, we still enjoyed every minute. We'll see how we feel about the crying tomorrow.
I gave him a sweet potato puff as a peace offering. He threw it at my face. Today, it was funny, but I told him that ...

very, very happy
Twenty-Eight months ago, we turned in a little application announcing our dream of adopting a little boy from Ethiopia.
It's been ten months since we first saw his faceand over five months since we last held him.
But tomorrow, the waiting ends.
Just before you wake up tomorrow morning, I'll be squeezing my boy.
I'm pretty sure ...

En Route to Ethiopia. First stop; Copper Mountain.
All summer, we've been looking forward to spending a weekend in the mountains with my family. In fact, we've been looking forward to THIS very weekend.
So, even though we leave for Ethiopia on Sunday, we are leaving tonight to head for the hills.
We will have plenty of time to relax - much needed after this week of packing and clea ...
