Celebrating 30 Years [a sibling anniversary surprise]

Engagements Families

I love it when people give photos as gifts and I especially love it when I get to work with my clients to carry out a surprise. Vienna got in touch with me in March because she and her brother, Philip, wanted to do a photo session to surprise their parents for their 30th wedding anniversary. We had so much fun! It makes me so happy to see siblings who are still close friends even as adults. Vienna and Philip have the kid of relationship that I pray my kids will share when they are older!

I’ve been so looking forward to sharing these photos with you, but I had to wait until the cat was out of the bag first! The big anniversary was celebrated a couple of weeks ago, and from what I hear, the gift was a hit!

Thank you, Vienna, for allowing me to be a part of such a special gift. And congratulations to your parents – here’s to 30 more years!

The Atkins Family
Last summer, when I donated a portrait session to an auction benefiting a friend's adoption fund, I was a little bit anxious to see who the winning bidder would be. A few weeks later, I was THRILLED when I got an email from Justine letting me know that she was indeed the highest bidder and asking when she could book her family session. Justine and I were friends in high school but haven't really spent much time together since. I've watched her little family grow and grow and grow via Facebook and I could.not.wait to get my camera on her beautiful babies. I enjoyed photographing them every bit as much as I thought I would  and I can testify ...

(Okay, maybe that last one is just a "thing" for us photographers) In any case, it's just about the perfect time for family photos - as evidenced here by the Bishop family. We did indeed have a perfect fall evening last October for these photos. But what I love most about the Bishop's photos is the way that they allowed their kids to explore and adventure throughout our time together. There was no yelling or stress and very little posing. But there was lots of stick-finding, jumping, climbing, leaf-rolling, and general curiosity to ca ...

Shannon & Brian’s Cherry Creek Engagement
These two lucky ducks are getting married in June…on the beach…in Mexico. In keeping with that theme, they wanted something warm and sunny and sandy for their engagement. The trouble is, we live in Colorado and it's the middle of winter. And, it seems that it just won't quit snowing here. In the end, we settled on the Cherry Creek Reservoir which offered a beach - albeit a snowy beach - and the Colorado skies opened up warm and sunny for just a few moments. It was a chilly afternoon for sure, but I do believe that the chill in the air made for a few more snuggles from these two. You'll never find me complaining about that!
