Colorado Springs Family Photographer || The Cutter Family

Families

Here’s the thing about being a Colorado Springs family photographer; there is no shortage of beautiful locations to shoot in. No matter the time of day or year, I can always find a lovely surrounding for any family session. BUT, when a family comes to me and says, “Our backyard is really amazing, would you mind shooting us there?” I always, ALWAYS take them up on that!

When the Cutter family got together in July, they offered me this amazing opportunity of capturing them all in their gorgeous backyard. I loved the way the surroundings personalized the shoot and gave the kids so much freedom to play and roam and get comfortable. Of top of that, grandma bought bubble wands, hola hoops, and funny faces AND the adults got to enjoy a little beer in between shots. When all of this came together, it just made for a generally good time.

Thank you, Cutter family, for inviting me to capture you all once again. It blessed me to see how much your kiddos had grown and to see all of the cousins having such a good time together! Can’t wait to do it again sometime! Colorado Springs Family Photographer large family photoColorado Springs Family photographer CousinsColorado Springs family of five Colorado springs family photographerlaughing and hugging couplehappy family of six four young siblingscolorado springs family photographer mother hugging teen sonfamily of four colorado springs family photographer couple hugging joyful mom and dad colorado springs family photographer mother hugging two sons grandma and grandpagrandpa kissing grandmalittle girl blowing bubblesColorado Springs Family photographer little boy blowing bubblesgrandma with granddaughters little girl with funny facefunny face kidslittle boy with funny facefunny face kids

Fall in Colorado Springs. It's glorious, right? More warmth. More color. Less rain. And glorious light. (Okay, maybe that last one is just a "thing" for us photographers) In any case, it's just about the perfect time for family photos - as evidenced here by the Bishop family. We did indeed have a perfect fall evening last October for these photos. But what I love most about the Bishop's photos is the way that they allowed their kids to explore and adventure throughout our time together. There was no yelling or stress and very little posing. But there was lots of stick-finding, jumping, climbing, leaf-rolling, and general curiosity to ca ...

I knew JJ in what feels like another lifetime. Before he was married - WAY before either of us had kids - when he and my then-new husband used to play in a band together. You guys, those were good times. Such good times. So when JJ told me he was going to be in Colorado Springs for Christmas and asked me if I'd take his family photos, I was thrilled. Man, was it ever good to see him and meet his beautiful family. The thing that stood out to me the most about these four was their joy.  JJ and Shaina are happy, calm, and madly in love, and these two little boys reflect their joy. It was indeed a little bit cold, but you'd never know it. I ...

I've said it before and I'll said it again, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it when families get together for special occasions and choose to have their photos taken. Especially families that live in different parts of the country. There is just something special about cousins and siblings reuniting after an extend amount of time apart. And I'm always astounded at the amount of joy I see when grandparents are surrounded by all of the grandchildren at once. It gets me every time.
