Colorado Springs Home Birth || Welcome Evangeline

Lifestyle

I’ve been anticipating the arrival of this little one for months – and when her mama asked me to be there for her Colorado Springs home birth, I was over the moon!

For WEEKS I sprinted to my phone every time it rang and slept with it right next to my pillow. So when Emily called me just after midnight on March 23, I was pretty much half way out the door before she even told me she was in labor.

Emily, the world’s most fabulous doula, knows a lot about birth and babies. She’s helped many, many moms and dads bring their little ones into the world. I was so honored and excited to be a part of the team of people that would be there for her as she welcomed her own little girl.  She chose a home birth and was attended by her wise and compassionate midwife, Tara, her husband, her sister, and two friends.

Emily labored all night and Evangeline Kindle Mary Osburn was born just as the sun was rising — and at the very beginning of one of Colorado Springs’s most epic blizzards!

I love this family and am excited to watch Evangeline grow up alongside her bother and sister and alongside my own two kids. Lifestyle Newborn Session || Gatling Family
I first met Kirsten 4-ish years ago when I arrived at the 5:45 am spin class she was teaching at the YMCA - and she's kicked my booty in that class nearly every Wednesday morning since then! Though it's early and dark and cold and often hard to wake up for, I look forward to that workout each week and am never disappointed that I showed up! I was so excited for Kirsten when she announced that she was expecting a little girl and was THRILLED when she asked me to capture her beautiful, curly-headed bundle of joy once she arrived. Kirsten and Cameron are such good parents and it was so fun to see the way they calmly cared for little Kiara. I ...

Five Minute Project || Waking the Baby One Year Later
The other morning - at 6:45am - my littles were being especially sweet and I couldn't resist the opportunity to sneak in and complete a little 5 minute project photo session with them. These photos were taken almost exactly one year after the photos from this post - and I really can't believe the difference that one year makes. These two little ones have certainly changed in that short year, but I can honestly say that they still adore each other as much as they did one year ago. Briggs still loves to sneak in a greet his sister as soon as he hears her stirring and he often insists that he must be the one to give her her first kiss of the ...

Olive Jane
In my opinion, being asked to be present at the birth of a baby is one of the greatest honors. It means to be allowed to witness one the most painful and vulnerable moments of a woman's life and to be invited to experience - in a most intimate way - the creation of a family. I've been anticipating the birth of miss Olive Jane for months and was thrilled to be awakened in the wee hours of April 7th by a text message that said, "Come on over. Baby's on her way!" As Holly labored at home during the darkest hours of the night, I wished - on her behalf - that it would just.be.over. It was a long labor and I know that there were several momen ...
