Newborn Dorothy

Lifestyle

I introduced you to miss Dorothy Hazel a couple of weeks ago, and today I’m excited to show you her newborn photos.

Now here’s the thing about miss Dorothy – Dorothy is baby number 3. 3! And the thing about being baby number 3 is that there’s no time to lay around looking serene and sleepy in a little basket. No way. Baby number 3 jumps right into all the motion and commotion that is created by older siblings.

I loved the way Dorothy’s newborn shoot incorporated the way that her life – her family’s life – really is right now. It’s exciting and high energy and everyone is excited to have her join in the fun! We jumped on the bed, scrambled around, gave some kisses, and laughed and screamed a little. And at the end of it all, Dorothy was wiped out.

I have loved watching the family grow from 2 to 3 to 4 and now 5. Thank you, Patrick’s, for letting me witness and capture your family over the years!

Olive Jane
In my opinion, being asked to be present at the birth of a baby is one of the greatest honors. It means to be allowed to witness one the most painful and vulnerable moments of a woman's life and to be invited to experience - in a most intimate way - the creation of a family. I've been anticipating the birth of miss Olive Jane for months and was thrilled to be awakened in the wee hours of April 7th by a text message that said, "Come on over. Baby's on her way!" As Holly labored at home during the darkest hours of the night, I wished - on her behalf - that it would just.be.over. It was a long labor and I know that there were several momen ...

Five Minute Project || Waking the Baby One Year Later
The other morning - at 6:45am - my littles were being especially sweet and I couldn't resist the opportunity to sneak in and complete a little 5 minute project photo session with them. These photos were taken almost exactly one year after the photos from this post - and I really can't believe the difference that one year makes. These two little ones have certainly changed in that short year, but I can honestly say that they still adore each other as much as they did one year ago. Briggs still loves to sneak in a greet his sister as soon as he hears her stirring and he often insists that he must be the one to give her her first kiss of the ...

This Old Truck
Earlier this year, Mark's beloved truck bit the dust. Not worth the cost of the repairs, it went off to a new owner via craigslist, and we began searching for our next vehicle. We're not a family that takes on car payments, so we bought what we could afford with cash. And what we could afford was a very old, slightly damaged, manual transmission Ford. Mark and I, honestly, kind of think it's the worst. Three seats (not even enough for all of us). A tape deck. No cupholders (Imagine!). No automatic anything. But our kids. Well, they think it's absolutely the most amazing vehicle they've ever, ever laid eyes on! One bench seat means ...
