The Fariss Family

Families Lifestyle

This sweet family has a little brother on the way and what a blessing it was to spend a morning with them capturing them as they are today.

Big sister, Brooklee,  has some of the most beautiful hair I’ve ever seen and was not at all interested in our photo session until the session involved running. She must be two. 🙂 Little Brother, on the other hand, was quite excited to have me there. He moved and kicked and stretched his way through the morning. Oh how I love that he was making his presence known from inside his mama’s belly. It was as if he was saying, “I am here. I am a life. I am already a part of this family.”

I’m praying for this little one, that he will make his way into the world with the same feisty-ness that he displayed on this particular morning saying, “I am here and I am alive and I am the tiniest, but strongest, part of this family.”

Colorado Springs Home Birth || Welcome Evangeline
I've been anticipating the arrival of this little one for months - and when her mama asked me to be there for her Colorado Springs home birth, I was over the moon! For WEEKS I sprinted to my phone every time it rang and slept with it right next to my pillow. So when Emily called me just after midnight on March 23, I was pretty much half way out the door before she even told me she was in labor. Emily, the world's most fabulous doula, knows a lot about birth and babies. She's helped many, many moms and dads bring their little ones into the world. I was so honored and excited to be a part of the team of people that would be there for her ...

This Old Truck
Earlier this year, Mark's beloved truck bit the dust. Not worth the cost of the repairs, it went off to a new owner via craigslist, and we began searching for our next vehicle. We're not a family that takes on car payments, so we bought what we could afford with cash. And what we could afford was a very old, slightly damaged, manual transmission Ford. Mark and I, honestly, kind of think it's the worst. Three seats (not even enough for all of us). A tape deck. No cupholders (Imagine!). No automatic anything. But our kids. Well, they think it's absolutely the most amazing vehicle they've ever, ever laid eyes on! One bench seat means ...

Five Minute Project || WrestleMania
It's a sixth-sense, I think. The kids know it. The very minute Daddy gets down on the floor, it's wrestle time. It doesn't matter where they are - when Daddy's body touches the living room carpet, they come running from all corners of the house. Mark and Briggs have been waiting for Geneva to get big enough to play along, and the days are finally here. She gets right in the middle of the jumping, rolling, tickling ruckus and she loves every bit of it. The other night, when this general rowdiness was happening in the living room, I decided it was time for another five-minute-project. I've been told over and over that these days wit ...
