Wedding at Denver Botanic Gardens

Weddings

As the daughter of a passionate gardner, I’ve been to the Denver Botanic Gardens many times before – but never for a wedding. When Allison asked me if I’d like to assist her with Mike & Amanda’s wedding at Denver Botanic Gardens, the answer was an immediate “yes!”

And these two Colorado Springs girls had a blast tearin’ up downtown Denver with this bridal party! From two different (gorgeous) “getting ready” locations, to the gardens, to a reception in the top of a clocktower across town, this bride and groom gave us the full urban wedding experience and PLENTY of beauty to capture.

Mike & Amanda’s day went off without a hitch…except one tiny little thing. Amanda wanted to surprise Mike with a stay at The Crawford Hotel and she did a GREAT JOB of keeping that secret. Such a great job, in fact, that she forgot to tell Allison that she’d also be getting ready there. I dropped Allison off at what we thought was the correct hotel and drove away. A minute later, I looked up to see a frantic Allison running through the valet shouting at me to stop and come back and get her.

Later in the evening, Allison and I had another chance to get our heart rates up when Amanda and Mike requested that we climb to the.very.top of the bell tower for a few photos. Even I – lover of all things thrilling – had to sit down for a minute after we completed that adventure.

You all probably know by now that I love a beautiful wedding and always, always love a good love story, but a day spent shooting, exploring and working alongside a talented friend is absolutely the icing on the cake.

Hayley & Eric are Married!
Do you remember Aubrey? Last May, Aubrey's beautiful older sister, Hayley, got married and I was beyond honored to be asked to capture the big day. Hayley and Eric planned a tiny ceremony at the overlook above Garden of the Gods. They wanted to be married in front of their immediate family members at the exact spot where Eric proposed. And then, we woke up on the morning of their wedding to gloomy skies and rain. We all sadly predicted that gorgeous scenery might just not be on the docket for the day. Buy Hayley and Eric persisted and the ceremony went ahead as planned. And while the skies were indeed grey, the surroundings were just as br ...

La Foret Wedding Reception
Wedding at La Foret || Samantha & Chris
I had the best time assisting Allison with this wedding at La Foret last summer. As always, Allison was a blast to work with and Samantha and Chris were a most joyful wedding couple. And let's not forget their guests who REALLY know how to tear up a dance floor. It was pretty hard for me to resist the urge to join in on this dance party! Combine all of this with a brief pause in the action for a  sunset-filled bride and groom portrait session, and you've got a perfect day as far as I'm concerned. Though I've been a resident of Colorado Springs for nearly my entire life, I haven't had many opportunities to visit La Foret. Can I just tell yo ...
